Finding Fanon Trilogy + Q&A with Larry Achiampong & David Blandy with Ying Tan, Curator at the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art (CFCCA)
Opening night event, Schools of Change, takes place at Paradise Works artist studios in Salford on Thursday 30 November. Featuring performative film and video by Jennet Thomas, Laura Hindmarsh, Bea Haut and Tariq Emam, there will be a free supper provided and a pay bar on site as we make ourselves comfortable for an evening of playful experimentation.
A filmmaker focus throughout the weekend upon one of the most important experimental filmmakers of the 20th century, Stan Brakhage, includes rare 16mm projection and whose hand-painted and abstract techniques are often referred to as ‘visual music’.
Features include Stanya Kahn’s intensely personal Stand in the Stream, Margaret Salmon’s magical, childs-eye view Eglantine, Sarah Turner’s experimental documentary Public House and Declan Clarke’s Group Portrait with Explosives. Larry Achiampong and David Blandy present Finding Fanon Trilogy, plus shorts from Both Sides Now 4 and Lawrence Abu Hamdan.
