Worlds: An afternoon of conversation about roleplay games
Speakers: Marc Gascgoine, David Blandy, Jamie Sutcliffe, Jamie Harper
Wednesday 26th July from 1pm to 6pm. Leicester Gallery, De Montfort University
Join us for an afternoon of chat about roleplay games, worldbuilding and the cultures that the genre has created. The release of Dungeons and Dragons in 1974 has unleashed a half a century of roleplay games that have existed in the margins and shadows of society, often subject to significant suspicion from the orthodox culture. NOw, after almost half a century they have slowly entered mainstream culture and their impact and ambition and continue to grow.
The speakers for the afternoon are:
Marc Gascgoine, has amongst, many, many other achievements developed table top roleplay games including Judge Dredd RPG and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay for Games Workshop in the 80s.
David Blandy is a visual artist whom has exhibited internationally, creating table top roleplay games in his work and has released indie RPGs including The World After.
Jamie Sutcliffe is co-director at Strange Attractor Press.
Jamie Harper is a UK-based theatre director and play designer whom has presented Larps at numerous festivals
including Grenselandet in Oslo, Blackbox CPH in Copenhagen and Minsk Larp Festival in Belarus.
