Gathering Storm with Theatrum Mundi

Theatrum Mundi: Gathering Storm - David Blandy
Wednesday Apr 19 2023 / 6-9pm
Venue: Stanley Arts, 12 South Norwood Hill, London, SE25 6AB

A new workroom series introducing questions of world-building through creative practice as an act of world-building in its own right.

Each session opens with a guest speaker, either a practitioner or thinker, sharing their research and practice, exploring how we ‘make world’ through culture and practice and how we use acts of worlding to highlight, advance and re-address the power balance towards non-dominant narratives voices.

In this session with David Blandy, we will explore collective world-building, using table top role-play techniques to think about how you can use these forms to expand ideas around society and history.

Gathering Storm - David Blandy
A collaborative world-building game – an outcome of research into colonial agricultural policies and legacies

Developed on a residency at Delfina Foundation for the fifth season of the Politics of Food, in partnership with Gaia Art Foundation

Other workshops include: Speakers include Theo Turpin, Eloïse Bonneviot and Anne de Boer and Pedro Neves Marques.

After the presentation the group will discuss the research covered and how the guests’ ideas around the topic feed into a broader discourse around world-building as a necessary practice for making and changing culture.
